About
I am a conscious consumer both in and out of my artistic practice. I try to source second hand materials where possible, or use bits that would otherwise have been discarded. I thrive within the constraints of my environmental conscience. I subscribe to the traditional Japanese ethos that every object has a “life force” and try to respect each material that makes its way into my life.
I work intuitively—slowly, usually by hand—following the materials where they lead me and responding as in a dialogue. This dialogue, and the work itself, often features themes of conflict and resolution, as I process the world around me.
